Joe Roberts
Dr Joe Roberts FHEA FRES is an applied entomologist and chemical ecologist whose research focuses on developing sustainable pest management solutions for global agriculture. With a PhD in invertebrate chemical ecology from Harper Adams University (UK), he studies plant-insect interactions from a chemical perspective to reduce reliance on synthetic pesticides and develop innovative crop protection tools for growers. His research interests span from insect behaviour to utilising artificial intelligence for crop pest monitoring, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 2 for sustainable agriculture and food security. Dr Roberts is a Fellow and Trustee of the Royal Entomological Society, chairing its Education and Training Committee, and a committee member of the Association of Applied Biology's IPM specialist interest group. His dedication to advancing knowledge in plant-insect interactions and developing innovative crop protection methods balances agricultural needs with environmental preservation.
