John Gadsby

Agricultural Consultant, ADAS Ltd

John Gadsby is an Agricultural Consultant with ADAS with 2 decades of experience in practical farm management and consultancy. As part of his role, John delivers advice on farm business, soils, irrigation, farm infrastructure and nutrient planning across Eastern and Southern England. This focuses on providing practical appropriate on farm solutions to provide business sustainability and environmental protection. Prior to joining ADAS, he managed a variety of combinable and root crop enterprises in Eastern Europe and East Anglia..

Outside of his consultancy work, John is also heavily involved in his family’s farming business in East Anglia which specialises in intensive beef production finished on home grown feeds including grain maize and lucerne.

John is a graduate of Harper Adams, a member of the BASIS Professional Register, NROSO, the UK Irrigation Association and the Institute of Agricultural Engineers and holds a BASIS Diploma in Agronomy.

Session:

Practices for Water Protection and Resilience

The presentation will briefly cover legislation around water protection and then look at examples of agricultural impacts on water and how to minimise these, including pollution and water use for agriculture. I will use examples of potential issues and proposed solutions to address these, including farm infrastructure, soil management and management practices.
