Richard Glass
Innovation Lead at the UK Agri-Tech Centre, having joined CHAP in 2018 with over 30 years of experience working with a broad range of R&D related to agriculture across different climatic zones. Early career spent in Latin America with ultra-low volume (ULV) spray application studies in coffee, followed by managing field trials in France and Spain. Returned to the UK, joining the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food in Harpenden in 1991 with CSL, which became Defra Food and Environment Research Agency (Fera). Coordinated Defra, EU and EFSA funded R&D projects dealing with pesticide safety and exposure models. Participated in projects and training courses dealing with the Sustainable Use Directive, particularly in southern Europe, including teaching post graduate students in Latin America and Almería. Currently dealing with a range of academic and industrial partners developing projects to develop techniques for a more sustainable approach to food production, including precision application, novel crop protection and cropping systems.
