Corteva Agriscience – at the heart of innovation

Corteva Agriscience is delighted to support CropTecs 2020 virtual event, an opportunity to showcase the role it is playing in delivering vital innovations to arable farmers across the UK and Ireland.

2020 emphasised once more how volatile farming can be, with weather patterns making for a difficult growing season for most crops in the rotation.

Innovations in chemistry and seed breeding are an essential tool to help farmers mitigate risk and drive performance, making their businesses more sustainable. This year alone the strength of Corteva products has shown just how important innovation is.

For oilseed rape growers, Pioneer offers standout hybrid oilseed rape varieties including PX131, PT275 and Clearfield PT279CL.

Meanwhile, farmers are embracing new herbicide strategies thanks to ground-breaking chemistry in the form of post-emergence herbicide, Belkar. Belkar has delivered huge benefits to oilseed rape growers by allowing them to reduce their up-front herbicide investment and waiting until the crop has emerged before deciding on the most effective programme. Until the end of December 2020, farmers and agronomists can enter a Belkar competition for a chance to win petrol-powered pressure washers (www.corteva.co.uk/belkar).

In cereal crops Zypar and Pixarro with Arylex active continue to offer a fantastic performance in controlling key problem weeds in cold and variable temperatures.

And Irish farmers are among the first in the world to be able to use Questar in 2021 a brand new fungicide for septoria control in wheat.

As well as providing farmers with a fantastic toolbox, Cortevas Resilient & Ready Programme with LEAF is making huge waves on its journey to help the industry get fitter for the future. Four farms from across England and Scotland were selected to undergo a three-year programme of discovery. They are now a year into the scheme and are challenging themselves to improve many aspects of their business from cultivation techniques and product testing to carbon cutting and stewardship schemes.

Last month Corteva Agriscience announced that Crop Protection Sales Manager William Corrigan will be promoted to UK & Ireland Country Leader from 1 January 2021, replacing Adrian Gough who has been with the company for 36 years.

Will commented: We have an important role to play in delivering the tools farmers need to be resilient, sustainable and profitable for the future. I am looking forward to working with them and our customers to demonstrate how our strong product range of seeds, crop protection and digital solutions will continue to support the agricultural industry while growing our business across the region.

Corteva is also taking part in the virtual knowledge trail at CropTec offering BASIS and NRoSO CPD points.
