Harnessing the power of data to take centre stage in new webinar

With data having the power to transform and support the day-to-day management of farm businesses, The CropTec Show has teamed up with Cranfield University to explore how farmers can best harness this valuable resource in a new webinar.

Taking place on September 23 at 8pm, the event will see a panel of experts examine how farmers can benefit from converting complex data into practical tools for effective decision-making on-farm.

Exploring the development of the Soil Management Information System (SMIS), Jane Rickson, professor of soil erosion and conservation at Cranfield, will provide an insight into how ‘big data is key to unearthing sustainable soil management and crop production.

Prof Rickson will explore why access to crop and farm data will be crucial for the future of agriculture and address some key questions;, including:

Are we on the verge of the fourth revolution in agriculture?

What are the implications of ‘big data for future farming and land-based industries?

What are the push and pull factors that drive the development of big data and smart farming?

Prof Rickson will be joined by Dr Toby Waine, senior lecturer in applied remote sensing at Cranfield, who will examine how precision farming techniques for crop monitoring, via the use of drones for example, can help growers optimise their decision-making to boost productivity and improve yields.

The event is free to attend and you can register via the webinar page at: www.croptecshow.com/webinar.
